Drive belts and timing components

A chirp at cold start and a timing belt that is due at a mileage interval are both belt jobs, and they are not interchangeable parts. Intex lists serpentine belts and timing belts. Bando is named for serpentine and V-belts. Continental is named for belts, hoses, tensioners, and water pumps.

Timing work is kit-shaped more often than a single belt. Cloyes is listed for timing components and kits, AISIN for water pumps and timing kits, and Pick Pro Parts for timing kits. If the water pump is driven by the timing belt, say so when you call so the counter is not looking up a belt alone.

We do not publish interval charts. Bring the VIN and the mileage, or the old belt’s number, and call (408) 327-1000. The San Jose counter will check the belt or kit before you drive over from Santa Clara or Cupertino.
